milestones

So I have my mission call to St. George Utah. In addition i'll be serving at the temple visitor's center. I'm definately getting closer to getting all the items I need which is exciting. I got my shoes today! :) yay! So my question is, are getting mission shoes considered a missionary milestone? I think it should be...

The Holy Ghost

15¶If ye alove me, bkeep my ccommandments.
16And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another aComforter, that he may babide with you for ever;
17Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you
The Holy Ghost is a comforter. They must pray to receive Him.

26But the aComforter, which is the bHoly Ghost, whom the Father will send in my cname, he shall dteach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
27aPeace I leave with you, my bpeace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be ctroubled, neither let it be afraid.
The Holy Ghost will help us remember things.

26But when the aComforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall btestify of me:
27And ye also shall bear awitness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.
The Holy Ghost will testify and bear witness.

7Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is aexpedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the bComforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
8And when he is come, he will areprove the world of sin, and of brighteousness, and of judgment:
The Holy Ghost will reprove the world of sin

13Howbeit when he, the aSpirit of truth, is come, he will bguide you into all ctruth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will dshew you things to come.
14He shall aglorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
The Holy Ghost will guide us all into truth, and glorify God
The Holy Ghost has helped the apostles complete their missions just like it has helped us complete all of our missions. It is here to help us discern right from wrong.
I had a very strong feeling of the Holy Ghost when I was in a meeting with my stake president when we were talking about going on a mission. It was very overpowering. I also feel very must at piece whenever I go to the temple. I love it so much there, and look forward to going again.

Lead me guide me walk beside me

The Savior teaches us that leadership is about putting yourself above no one, and it's about serving others. They will spend their time teaching and being taught.

The world teaches us that the leader is the one in control. They should be treated like royalty and pampered and spoiled. They leave us with the impression that the leader is suppose to be better then everyone else. They teach, but don't think they need to be taught.

I've had some amazing young women leaders. They have brought me and my fellow young women together in so many ways. We have jokes about things that happened in young womens and activities we've been to. There was also a young women leader who was a bit older. At first I wasn't sure about her, but she ended up being so amazing. Everytime i missed church when I wasn't feeling well, she came to my door within the next few days with a sprite or something for me. These leaders were a great example for us.

The Second coming

Things to watch out for
for they shall deliver you up to councils;
and in the synagogues ye shall be beaten:
and ye shall be brought before rulers and akings for my sake, for a testimony against them.
Doctrine and Covenants 87:8
Have the gift of the Holy Ghost with us and stay strong in our testimony

D&C 33:17
Be prepared for the second coming to come anytime, because we don’t know when it will happen.

D&C 45:56-57
We will be blessed for our preparation

Parables

17¶And he left them, and went out of the city into Bethany; and he lodged there.
18Now in the morning as he returned into the city, he hungered.
19And when he saw a fig tree ain the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no bfruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And cpresently the fig tree withered away.
This relates to Jewish leaders because they have nothing for people to find that will lead them back to Jesus.

28¶But what think ye? A certain man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go awork to day in my vineyard.
29He answered and said, aI will not: but afterward he repented, and went.
30And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and awent bnot.
31Whether of them twain did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.
32For John came unto you in the way of arighteousness, and ye bbelieved him not: but the cpublicans and the harlots believed him: dand ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him.
This makes me think about the willingness of leaders to follow the Lord’s commandment. For example, it’s hard to find a leader like Nephi who would be willing to kill a man because he was commanded by God.

The last parable talks about the man who didn’t have a wedding garment. The King had him bound and cast into outer darkness. I think about the different religions. I was thinking about in our religion, if someone had gone to the temple without the proper clothes, people would be helping this person find exactly what they need. Or if someone had come to church in less then Sunday best, no one would treat them any differently.

Parables

In Luke 16: 1-12, we learn of the unjust steward. I think the Lord here is saying that we need to show the same compassion and caring for our fellow man as the Lord does for us.

Luke 16: 19-31 teaches us about a beggar named Lazarus and a rich man. I think we are taught here about the importance of helping those are less fortunate then us, not only for their sake, but for our own as well.

Luke 17:11-19 is the parable of the ten lepers. I think showing themselves to a priest is sort of like if we had someone in our day talk to the bishop about a sin they committed. I’m not sure of that so don’t quote me though. Only one of the lepers came back after they had been cleansed to thank Jesus.

Luke 18:1-9 tells us the parable of the unjust judge. He gave this parable to show us to put our trust in God, not only ourselves.

Luke 18:10-14 is the parable of the Pharisee and the Publican. This parable shows how the Pharisee was so prideful and basically prayed to God to show that he was better then everyone else. The Publican was so humble that he would not even lift up his eyes, and asked for God’s forgiveness.

Quorom of the Seventy

The Lord told the people to go and spend time with the people. He talked about when they enter a home, there will be peace unto it. He tells them to go and heal the sick. Basically it sounds like the Lord is telling them to be missionaries.
The church has been organized for so long. Chapter ten talks about the responsibilities of the quorum of the seventy. They are sent out to teach and be with the people, which is the same as the quorum of the seventy today. Someone once pointed out that Joseph Smith wouldn’t have been able to make up all of these things that are part of our church.

See also Apostle; Melchizedek Priesthood.
An office to which men are ordained in the Melchizedek Priesthood. Today, the quorums of Seventy are General Authorities of the Church who are given the apostolic authority but are not ordained Apostles. They devote their full time to the ministry.
• The Lord appointed other seventy, Luke 10:1
• The Seventy are called to preach the gospel and be especial witnesses of Jesus Christ, D&C 107:25–26
• The Seventy act in the name of the Lord, under the direction of the Twelve, building up the Church and regulating all the affairs of the same in all nations, D&C 107:34
• Choose other seventy, even seven times seventy, if the labor requires it, D&C 107:93–97
• The quorum of seventies is instituted for traveling elders to bear record of my name in all the world, D&C 124:138–139
The scriptures show us the existence of this office in priesthood. They teach us that they are taught to go out and be with the people. It has been set us by the Lord. I know the Lord’s church is organized.
